Endodontics & Root Canal Treatment

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with root canal treatments.

It’s the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the dental pulp and root canal system of the teeth. Our primary aim is to relieve pain, eliminate infection and preserve natural teeth that might otherwise require extraction.

At No.8, endodontic treatment is delivered within a specialist-led, multidisciplinary environment where advanced technology, clinical skills and meticulous attention to detail are combined to achieve predictable outcomes. Our focus is always on preserving the natural dentition wherever possible, helping patients maintain healthy, functional teeth for the long term.

What is an endodontist?

An endodontist is a dentist who has undertaken several additional years of advanced postgraduate training dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries affecting the dental pulp and root canal system.

This specialist training enables endodontists to manage complex cases, diagnose difficult dental pain, and perform highly precise root canal procedures using advanced techniques and magnification. Their experience is particularly valuable when treating teeth with complex anatomy, persistent infection or previous root canal treatment.

endodontic assessment

When might you need endodontic treatment?

You may benefit from an endodontic assessment if you experience:

  • Persistent toothache or sensitivity.
  • Pain when biting or chewing.
  • Swelling around a tooth or gum.
  • A dental abscess or recurrent infection.
  • Darkening or discolouration of a tooth following trauma.
  • Symptoms associated with a previously root-treated tooth.
  • Dental trauma resulting from an accident or injury.

In some cases, problems affecting the dental pulp may develop without causing significant symptoms. Early diagnosis can often improve treatment outcomes and help preserve the affected tooth.

Preserving your natural teeth

Modern endodontic treatment is highly effective and plays a vital role in saving teeth that may otherwise be lost. Preserving natural teeth is often the most conservative and predictable long-term option, helping to maintain normal function, comfort and aesthetics.

At No.8, our multidisciplinary approach allows endodontic treatment to be carefully integrated with restorative, periodontal and implant dentistry where required, ensuring comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Your endodontic consultation

During your consultation, we will carry out a detailed assessment of your symptoms, clinical findings and radiographs to determine the most appropriate course of treatment. We will explain your diagnosis, discuss the available options and develop a personalised treatment plan focused on preserving your oral health and maintaining your natural teeth whenever possible.

Our priority is to provide precise, thoughtful and evidence-based care, delivered with the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient comfort.
